Candle Safety + Best Practices

Like all candles, safety is important when burning cocktail candles.

For all candles, please follow these guidelines.

  • Burn within sight on a level surface away from flammable materials as well as children and pets.

  • Trim wick to ¼” before lighting.

  • Stop use when 2" of wax remains, or glass is hot to touch when burning.

  • Please exercise your best judgment when it comes to candle safety; if in doubt- blow it out!

Best Burn Life

Soy Candles

  • Allow your candle to burn for approximately 2 - 4hours on your first burn.

    • This is enough time for your candle wax to melt fully across the top- creating a smooth candle "memory" that sets the tone for the rest of your burns.

    • This will avoid  “tunneling” where the candle wax “tunnels”,  decreasing the life of your candle.

  • Trim wick with scissors to 1/4" each use.

The image on the right is a candle that has been burning for approximately one hour.

Because the wax top has not fully melted across, it is important to not blow out the candle at this time if avoidable.

At this point (final photo) the candle has fully burned across the top. It is now okay to extinguish the flame.

  • A candle burned full across on the first burn will have a longer burn life.

Lighting Your Candle (After a Candle Class)

Let's face it; we all want to burn our candles right away.

However, please wait 24 hours before burning your candle.

Also, please note candles will be at their strongest fragrance throw 5 days after your class; the longer you wait, the better they smell.
